Today's offering showcases this very cool, and uncommon Breitling mens military style wristwatch from 1947. In contrast to the relatively large number of chronograph models built by Breitling, the company created comparatively fewer dress style watches.
It has a rugged screw back water-resistant style case and classic military style luminous dial with luminous hands.
It is fully Breitling down to all of the original hands and signed winding crown. It is in beautiful restored condition. The dial and hands have been sympathetically restored with light orange which looks already toned, luminous giving it a true vintage look. The case presents very nicely and still has strong lines.
The Breitling handwound movement was just recently serviced and is running very accurately. Included with the purchase is a full one-year international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate attesting to its performance.
Note: A similar mens dress watch is published in Breitling: The History of a Great Brand of Watches 1884 to Present by Benno Richter, 2007.
Breitling vintage non-chronograph watches:
Since its founding in 1884, the Breitling firm has been known for working tirelessly to define what the perfect watch should be. Embraced by pilots since the dawning of aeronautics, Breitling watches are the only ones that grace the wrists of the world's elite aerobatic groups, namely the Blue Angels, the Thunderbirds, The British Red Arrows, and the Russian Knights. Breitling's timepieces rank with those of the very fine Swiss houses.
In contrast to the relatively large number of chronograph and complicated models built by Breitling, the company created comparatively fewer dress style watches. As fine as the chronographs yet seen less often, these special, vintage Breitling's are sought after by collector's, Hollywood celebrities, and anyone who desires to wear a desirable vintage timepiece.
