1947 Rolex Precision Vintage Mens "Jumbo" Watch - 14K Gold & Stainless Steel

Rolex

Item No. 10332R

In the 1930's through the 50's, in the midst of their high output of utilitarian Oyster sports watches, Rolex also made much more elegant dress watches. These fine wristwatches often combine a superior hand-wound mechanism with beautiful aesthetics.

The rare and elegant "Jumbo" dress Rolex Precision showcased in today's offering is a prime restored example of this phenomenon, likely made shortly after the end of World War II. It features very fine and pleasing styling and a well-executed handwound movement.

While not an overly large watch, it is larger than most similar Rolex dress watches from the era which has earned this reference its place among collectors of being known as a "jumbo" or "oversized" model. Its large dial and small bezel make it wear even larger than its dimensions.

We really love the aesthetic of this watch with its gold accents, thin bezel, cabochon crown, and elegant lugs - it blends a dress style with high performance.

Its original gold "feuille" hands, gold Arabic numerals, and counterweighted blued steel sweep seconds hand all beautifully complement and contrast its bi-color construction.

Powering the watch is its original Rolex caliber 700 movement with "Super Balance" system and an early shock resistance system.

I has a less common sweep seconds function and technical dial with 1/5 second markings that served the needs of men in technical, sporting, and racing fields. We really like the combination on the watch - its pleasingly blends a distinctive dress style with high performance.

But what is most striking about the watch is its gorgeous restored condition. It has all of its original parts and has just finished a true expertly done restoration.

Its case presents as just short of mint with fairly light signs of previous polishing.

Despite what the photos seem to suggest its lightly engraved serial number on the back is still intact. Its dial has been meticulously refinished - the printing could pass as Rolex factory done to the naked eye.

As part of the restoration, its movement has just been overhauled by a Master Watchmaker (a $695 value). It continues to run very strong and true, keeping time on par with with a new Rolex in our testing recording position.

For the finishing touch, it comes equipped with a brand new leather strap and aftermarket Rolex style buckle making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.

Don't miss the opportunity to own the perfect midsized complement to your sporty Datejust, Sub, GMT, or Daytona.
