1948 Rolex Vintage Oyster Perpetual Bubbleback, 14K Gold & Stainless Steel - Rare Hooded Model

Rolex

Item No. VR 11

Today's offering showcases this very rare model 6050 Bubbleback made in the 1940's. Produced in very limited numbers, these "rigid hooded" watches are one of the most desirable Bubbleback models and contrast the plainer Oyster watches.

Housed in one of Rolex's first water-tight Oyster cases, this wristwatch originally offered its owner complete protection against water and dust. Inside the ruggedly elegant case Rolex place an early self-winding Perpetual movement, keeping the watch powered by movements of the wrist.

Its solid gold and steel case is in very good condition and still retains its serial number on the outside of the back. Its crown is a period Oyster Patent screw-down. It dial has been previously restored and its hands appear period replacements.

It comes equipped with a vintage Rolex band and buckle.

Several years ago one of our watchmakers disassembled it down to its last screw and cleaned and oiled it. It became part of the discerning collection that we are now selling for a renowned pediatrician.

To prepare it for sale our watchmaker has performed a light servicing, making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a 90-day C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.

This is a special opportunity to own a rare rigid hooded Bubbleback.
