1949 IWC Vintage Mens Cal. 89 Large Watch with Bombe (Bombay) Lugs - 18K Gold

Item No. JH07

Today's offering showcases this elegant and large 18K IWC with Bombe lugs.

It is powered by one of the most highly-regarded manually wound movements ever made, the caliber 89, which is talked about in the same sentence as Pateks.

The movement, designed by IWC's renowned technical director Albert Pellaton and chosen by the company to power their famous Mark 11 military watches, is rich in technical details.

As fine on the outside as the inside, its full size case features wonderful Bombe lugs, one of our favorite lug designs from the era. And measuring at 36.5mm in diameter without the crown, it is even slightly wider than a Rolex Datejust.

The 18K case is in excellent condition with a couple of light indentions in the back. On the wrist it presents very nicely. The attractive, silver dial has been previously well-restored. And the handwound movement, originally adjusted to three positions, is keeping very accurate time.

Included with the purchase is a 90-day C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
