1950 Patek Philippe Vintage Mens Handwound Watch, Ref. 1517 - 18K Gold

Patek Philippe

Item No. 8440

Today's offering showcases this classic and uncommon ref. 1517 Patek Philippe mens dress watch with large lobed lugs. Our photos couldn't begin to do it justice.

Featuring a timeless silver face and pleasing 18K gold case with wonderful lugs, it showcases a sophisticated and elegant vintage style. And equipped with an illustrious Patek Philippe 10 ligne movement, unquestionably among the finest hand-winding movements ever built, it possesses all the necessary capabilities to earn it its place as one the finest timepieces in the world.

It has all of its original parts down to the hands, and winding crown.

Its elegant Patek Philippe case retains a nice hallmark on the left side and a very crisp hallmark under the lugs. It presents as better than near mint with only light signs of previous polishing. Its dial is bright and clean - the markers have a strong patina.

One of our Master Watchmakers has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $695 value).

It is running very strongly and keeping exceptionally accurate time in our testing position. For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new crocodile strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate attesting to its performance.

Please inquire if you would like us to obtain an Extract from the Patek Philippe archives for you. Patek charges 500CHF to provide one.

Patek Philippe:
Patek Philippe sets the standard as the finest watch manufacturer in the world. In the 1960's and 70's, Patek Philippe produced less than fifty watches per day (contrast this with Rolex and other fine watch manufacturers that produced 500 - 3,000 pieces per day). Important examples of Patek's wristwatches took between nine-months and one-year to assemble.
