1950's Rolex Vintage Ladies 18K Gold Watch with Box & Interchangeable Straps - The Chameleon

Rolex

Item No. 9945

The uncommon and very cool ladies wristwatch showcased in today's offering is a classic example of one of Rolex's interesting special vintage ladies models. Called the "Chameleon", it featured an unusual case with a slot in the back so different color bands could easily be slid on and off and the look changed to match different outfits, moods, or occasions.

Here are a few of the features that make this wristwatch so special:

* "Chameleon" model with case made for easy band interchange ability
* Timeless silver Rolex dial
* High quality Rolex mechanism capable of precision timekeeping
* Unusual gold case with slot for changing bands
* Solid 18K gold case. The vast majority of these watches found in the U.S. market were encased in 14K gold contract cases. This is a much less common 18K gold version.
* Rare original box with seven original Rolex bands. Because of their age, seldom do these watches come with their original box. And seldom do they come with an original band, much less 7 original Rolex bands.

This all-original striking Chameleon in 18K gold with original box and bands ticks a lot of boxes. We were fortunate to acquire it in pleasing original condition. It has all of its original Rolex parts down to the original hands, winding crown, and even diamond faceted crystal and of course the box and straps. The seven Rolex straps vary in condition and show signs of wear and use. Some look to have been worn often. All have original Rolex buckles on them.

Also available for purchase for an additional $145 is a set of eight brand new aftermarket straps - please see the photo in the listing.

Its wonderful case is in excellent condition with one light indention and only light signs of previous polishing. Its silver dial is bright and clean showing only fairly light signs of aging. It is original and untouched.

One of our Master Watchmakers, who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealer and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center to be an authorized Rolex watchmaker, has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components with genuine Rolex parts, installing a new mainspring, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $695 value).

It is running strong and true, keeping very accurate time.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a full-page custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.

If you are looking for a treasure for that special someone in your life, this is it. Modern Rolexes don't come close to matching the charm and creativity of this vintage original.
