Today's offering showcases this full size and classic mens automatic Ulysse Nardin. It has a Calatrava vintage styled case and monochromatic silver dial.
Measuring 35mm in diameter without the crown by 43mm long, it is about the size of a Rolex Datejust. Powering it is its original well-made Ulysse Nardin automatic movement. Unlike most of the Ulysse Nardins here in the States which were made for the U.S. market, this is true all Swiss creation.
It features a screw back waterproof style case, and its very cool monochromatic dial has alternating configuration of numerals and dart indices.
It presents in true expertly restored condition. It is fully original UN parts down to the winding crown and all hands.
Our photos don't do it justice. The dial markers are just a slightly different tone than silver of the dial which is slightly different from the tone of the case. It has great nuance, which the photos didn't pick up.
The dial has been meticulously refinished - the gilt printing could pass as UN factory done to the naked eye. As part of the restoration, one of our watchmakers has disassembled it down to its last screw and cleaned and oiled it.
We have timed it in five chronometer testing positions - it is running strong and very accurately, keeping time nearly on par with a new UN. Photos of the inside available upon request.
For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new calfskin strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
A classic six decade old Ulysse Nardin that looks almost like new!
Ulysse Nardin is best known by many collectors for creating chronometers, extremely accurate time keeping instruments. Their marine chronometer used by ship's captains to plot and follow the correct course while at sea. By employing sextants and chronometers, a captain could track the changes in his course over time and determine the exact location of his ship, and Nardin's marine chronometers were among the most reliable and sought after.
