Today's offering showcases this cool and classic Oyster Perpetual model #6084 encased in stainless steel. Built only in the early 1950's, these watches are fine and desirable.
Housed in one of Rolex's water-tight Oyster cases, the wristwatch originally offered its owner complete protection against water, dust, and perspiration. Inside the rugged case Rolex placed their legendary Cal. 620 so-called "Bubbleback" self-winding movement, keeping the watch powered by only movements of the wrist.
The 6084 is one of the more uncommon mid-century Oysters. Adding to the rarity and pleasantness of our Connoisseur of Time Certified Pre-Owned one, it has an uncommon inset marker dial.
Rather than being applied above, the dial markers are inset into the dial, giving the appearance of almost being carved into it. They have a gold tone, and because they're inset they stand out and change the color tone as the watch moves and light hits it at different angles. It has long been one of our favorite Rolex mid-century dial designs.
It is fully Rolex down to the silver dial, original hands, and winding crown. The dial is clean and bright, well-restored in vintage times.
Its case is in excellent condition with light remnants of wear to the back. It shows only relatively slight signs of being polished and presents beautifully on the wrist.
One of our Master Watchmakers, who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealer and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center to be an authorized Rolex watchmaker, has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, polishing the pivots, replacing any overly worn components with genuine Rolex parts, installing a new Rolex mainspring and crystal, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (an $895 value).
It is running strong and true, keeping time essentially on par with a new Rolex in our testing cording position.
For the finishing touch, we have equipped it with a brand new crocodile strap and aftermarket Rolex style buckle making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate attesting to its performance.
