1960 Audemars Piguet Vintage Mens Cal. 2003 Ultra Thin Watch - 18K White Gold & Diamonds

Audemars Piguet

Item No. 6949SH

Today's offering showcases this handsome, classic and rare Audemars Piguet mens watch in beautiful condition all-original condition.

It showcases wonderful vintage design with a distinctive diamond bezel and pleasing style. Its classic and simple understated silver dial and hands, give it a fashionable yet timelessly elegant vintage style.

It possesses the very unique distinction of having its rare and very beautiful case made by Edmund Jaeger for AP.

Just as fine on the inside as it is on the outside, the watch is powered by Audemars Piguet's legendary extra-flat caliber 2003 movement, co-developed with Vacheron & Constantin.

Released in 1946 the minuscule movement was a true feat of technical engineering. It is the thinnest movement ever created for a normal size watch, measuring a mere 1.64mm!

To honor the achievement Vacheron & Constantin presented personalized examples to several key Heads of State including President Dwight Eisenhower. Only a few luxury watches in the following decades would lay claim to this movement earning them reputations as masterpieces of twentieth-century watchmaking.

Like many dress watches from the era, though it originally was a mens midsize watch, it is a unisex size by today's standards, although its wide bezel makes it present larger on the wrist. It measures 26mm in diameter without the crown.

We were fortunate to acquire it in superior condition appearing to have spent nearly all of its life stored away. It is all-original down to its hands, winding crown, and crystal. The case is in stunning near new-old-stock condition. It has never been polished and retains perfect lines - an untouched 9.8 out of 10.

Its untouched dial shows moderate natural aging. If could be restored if you would like - please inquire.

Our Master Watchmaker has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $495 value).

For the finishing touch it comes equipped it with a new calfskin strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year international warranty on the movement and its function and a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.
