Today's offering showcases this handsome, classic and very high-grade Audemars Piguet mens modernist watch in beautiful condition.
It showcases wonderful modernist design sensibilities with a large bezel and pleasing style. Its classic and simple understated silver dial and hands, give it a fashionable yet elegant vintage style.
Just as fine on the inside as it is on the outside, the watch is powered by Audemars Piguet's legendary extra-flat movement, co-developed with Vacheron & Constantin.
Released in 1946 the minuscule movement was a true feat of technical engineering. It is the thinnest movement ever created for a normal size watch, measuring a mere 1.64mm!
To honor the achievement Vacheron & Constantin presented personalized examples to several key Heads of State including President Dwight Eisenhower. Only a few luxury watches in the following decades would lay claim to this movement earning them reputations as masterpieces of twentieth-century watchmaking.
Like many dress watches from the era, though it originally was a mens midsize watch, it is a small unisex size by today's standards, although its wide bezel makes it present larger on the wrist. It measures 27mm in diameter without the crown.
Its parts are original down to its case, dial, engine, and hands. It case is better than near mint. Its dial is a vintage restoration.
One of our watchmakers has just fully disassembled the movement down to its last screw and freshly cleaned and oiled it.
For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new crocodile strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate attesting to its performance.
As one of the finest names in watchmaking, Audemars Piguet commitment to quality and technical superiority is legendary. Long known for their highly-complicated watches, Audemars Piguet stands alongside Patek Philippe on the top echelon of premier watchmakers in the world.
