Today's showcases this scarce and very cool retro vintage Cartier dress watch in stainless steel.
A distinctive dress watch, it has a timeless steel case with water-resistant screw back and retro silver dial with fabulous "wide boy" markers. It really carries an elegant but slightly rugged look with its toned dial and mild aging to the hands. It feels to us a little like a watch James Bond might have worn.
Powering the watch is its original Cartier automatic mechanism.
Before cost-cutting measures brought about the widespread use of cheaper quartz movements for certain wristwatches, Cartier utilized Swiss-crafted mechanical movements. Because of this extra care and craftsmanship, Cartier wristwatches with mechanical movements are often considered more desirable than their quartz counterparts.
It has all of it original parts. Its case presents as scratch-free. Its retro dial is original and untouched. It's warmed to a sepia tone, giving it a true vintage look.
One of our Master Watchmakers has disassembled it down to its last screw and cleaned and oiled. It is running very strong and true, keeping time essentially on par with a new Cartier watch in our testing.
For the finishing touch, we have equipped it with a brand new crocodile strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate attesting to its performance.
