1960's Omega Seamaster De Ville Vintage Mens Cal. 560 Stainless Steel Watch, Automatic, Date - Rare Only 3000 Made

Omega

Item No. 9617

Today's offering showcases this rare and classic Seamaster De Ville with rare caliber 560 movement of which only 3,000 examples were made.

These movements were split across nine models, making each in effect a "limited edition." The 560 was a movement made only for the U.S. market to cut down on import tariffs.

Ours has an intriguing dial that was refinished in vintage times to a very dark navy blue. Its so dark that in low light it almost looks black - in brighter light the blue comes out more.

The Seamaster De Ville, showcasing both refinement and high function, was the most important Omega line from a sales perspective from the latter part of the 1960's into the 1970's. It has a monocoque - or one piece - case which ensured water resistance and slim, elegant profile. The case when new achieved high water resistance ratings by not having a separate case back.

This pleasing example has all of its original parts down to the dial, hands, and winding crown. The only part that has been replaced is the crystal, which we replaced with a correct for this model like-new-old stock Omega one which was more challenging than expected to find.

Its case is honest. It is in excellent condition with light wear and only slight signs of previous polishing long ago. Its previously refinished dial is bright and clean.

One of our Master Watchmakers has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components with genuine Omega replacements, tightening the cannon pinion, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (an $895 value). It is running very strong and true, keeping time essentially on par with a new Omega in our testing recording position.

For the finishing touch, we have equipped it with a vintage styled Connoisseur of Time leather strap and aftermarket Omega style buckle making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

We also stock lizard and a variety of other straps in various prints, skins, and colors. Please ask us if you're interested.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a full-page custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
