Today's offering showcases this classic and pleasing original Seamaster with uncommon and desirable caliber 560 movement.
Omega only ever produced 3,000 total examples of the caliber 560. It was a 17 jewel version offering in the famous 550 series. The 550 series is one of the finest mass-produced movements ever made.
These 560 movements were split across nine models made just for the U.S. market to avoid higher tariffs, making each in effect a small or "limited edition."
It is in honest original condition with a fabulous tropical dial. It is all-original - only the crystal has ever been replaced.
Its dial is original and untouched. It has warmed to a tropical sepia tone, giving it a true vintage look. Its case has never been polished so it retains very strong lines. This is a purists watch. It has light scratches and wear that could be removed through polishing if desired.
One of our Master Watchmakers has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $595 value).
It is running extremely strong and true, keeping time like a brand new Omega in our testing recording position.
For the finishing touch, to complete the vintage look, we have equipped it with a brand new vintage style distressed leather strap with aftermarket Omega style buckle making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
Note: Published examples of similar watches can be found in Marco Richon's work Omega: A Journey Through Time, 2007, pg. 403.
