We are proud to offer this timelessly classic Patek Philippe wristwatch showcased in today's offering. It features an elegant curved case and silver dial with gold accents.
It is often referred to as the "Tegola" by collectors, thanks to its resemblance to the Italians to a tile shape. It is the wider replacement to the Tegolino, a watch we also have for sale as of this writing.
This reference, launched in 1960 and in production until the mid-1960s, replaced the narrower ref. 425 Tegolino. At times they used movements for them that had been manufacturer earlier.
It is a vintage Patek that radiates class. Its thin case slides nicely under a shirt cuff, and doesn't draw a lot of attention to itself.
The cases for the 2461 were made by Markowsky and are slightly curved so to be comfortable on the wrist of the wearer.
It is powered by one of Patek Philippe's illustrious 9'90 movements, so well designed Patek that used it for more than 40 years. It is stamped with the prestigious Poinçon de Genève.
The 9'90 Patek Philippe movement is a tonneau shaped movement introduced in 1934 was fitted into many famous Patek Philippe watches such as the "Banana" (ref. 2442), the "Eiffel Tower " (ref. 2441), the "Top Hat" (ref. 1450), and the "Tegolino".
It has fully Patek parts down to the hands and the winding crown. The original owner of this watch was Dr. George W. Teuscher, a pioneer in the field of pediatric dentistry and former Dean of Northwestern University School of Dentistry. A tribute was paid to him in the United States Congress.
Its 18K gold case is scratch-free with signs of previous polishing. It presents very nicely. Its silver dial was restored in vintage times. Please inquire if you would like a fresh restoration.
One of our Master watchmakers has disassembled it down to its last screw and overhauled it and installed a new correct Patek stem and mineral glass crystal to give a clear view of the dial to the very edges. Its extremely high grade movement is running very strong and keeping accurate time.
For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new leather strap with unsigned buckle making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
If you would like us to obtain an Extract from the Patek Philippe Archives for it for you, please inquire. Patek charges 500CHF for the service.
Included with the purchase is a one-year international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate attesting to the watch's performance.
