We are pleased to offer the very fine and and handsome Patek Philippe mens ref. 3430 Gondolo square watch showcased in today's offering.
Some watches impress through complexity. Others through rarity. Patek Philippe dress watches like this one often achieve something more difficult: they remove everything unnecessary until only proportion, craftsmanship, and refinement remain.
This ref. 3430 Gondolo is one of those watches. The ref. 3430 was introduced to the market in 1958 and stayed in production until the early 1970's.
Introduced during the golden era of Patek Philippe's handwound dress watches, the reference showcases the restrained elegance that has made vintage Patek Philippe such an enduring benchmark among collectors. The beautifully balanced square case, thin profile, angular lugs, and uncluttered two-hand display create a watch that feels as sophisticated today as it did when it left Geneva decades ago.
We love how the warm 18K rose gold case pairs exceptionally well with the silver dial and matching rose gold markers and hands. The result is understated yet unmistakably luxurious.
Powering the watch is its illustrious Patek Philippe 23-300 ligne movement, stamped in two places with the prestigious Poinçon de Genève, unquestionably among the finest hand-winding movements ever built.
The watch has all of its original parts and has just completed a true expertly executed restoration.
Its dial has been meticulously restored by one of the leading dial restoration experts in North America. It still retains its original raised enamel printing underneath the signature. The quality of the work is exceptional and preserves the elegant character that makes the reference so appealing. It presents very pleasingly on the wrist.
Its case is scratch-free and shows only fairly mild to moderate signs of previous polishing. Its only very small blemish is one light pin prick on the back that can only be seen from certain angles. On the wrist it presents very pleasingly.
One of our Master Watchmakers has disassembled its extremely high-grade Patek movement down to its last screw and serviced it.
We have also timed it on a machine that simulates it being worn on the wrist. It is keeping very accurate time.
For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new Teju lizard strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function and a full-page custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.
Please inquire if you would like us to obtain an Extract from the Patek Philippe archives for you. Patek charges 500CHF to provide one.
