1960's Vacheron & Constantin Vintage Ultra Slim Modernist Watch, Cal. 1003 - 18K Gold

Vacheron & Constantin

Item No. 3126

Today's offering showcases this handsome and interesting modernist "extra flat" Vacheron & Constantin.

It is an uncommon model and fully original down to the unusual conical-shaped crown.

With is elegant and distinctive round case and simple understated gold dial and hands, it has a fashionable yet discrete modernist style.

Powering the watch is Vacheron & Constantin's legendary extra-flat caliber 1003 movement, co-developed with Audemars Piguet. Released in 1955 to celebrate the company's bicentennial, this minuscule mechanism is the thinnest movement ever created for a normal size watch, measuring a mere 1.64mm!

In fact, to honor the achievement Vacheron & Constantin presented personalized examples to several key Heads of State including President Dwight Eisenhower. Only a few luxury watches in the following decades would lay claim to this movement earning them a reputation as masterpieces of twentieth century watchmaking.

It's 18K gold case is in near mint condition. It's dial is original and untouched. And its extremely high-grade movement is running true. It has just been fully serviced by our Master Watchmaker.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
