1961 Omega Seamaster Vintage Mens Cal. 560 14K Gold Filled Watch, Automatic, Date - Rare Only 3000 Made

Omega

Item No. 10054

Today's offering showcases this classic and original Seamaster with uncommon and desirable caliber 560 movement.

Omega only ever produced 3,000 total examples of the caliber 560. It was a 17 jewel version offering in the famous 550 series. The 550 series is one of the finest mass-produced movements ever made.

These 560 movements were split across nine models made just for the U.S. market to avoid higher tariffs, making each in effect a small or "limited edition."

This example has a desirable "Explorer" style configuration dial with numerals at the primary hours.

It is fully Omega down to the dial, hands, crown, and even original Omega crystal.

Its dial is original and untouched. It has warmed to a light sepia tone, giving it a true vintage look.

Its case has a couple of spots of gold wear through on the back. The lugs have heavier wear from an original metal bracelet rubbing on their inside and a couple are slightly bent.

One of our Master Watchmakers has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing the crystal ring with a correct original Omega one, replacing the case clamps with correct original Omega ones, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (an $895 value).

It is running strong and true, keeping time nearly on par with a new Omega in our testing recording position.

For the finishing touch, to complete the vintage look, we have equipped it with a brand new vintage style distressed leather strap with aftermarket Omega style buckle making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.

Note: Published examples of similar watches can be found in Marco Richon's work Omega: A Journey Through Time, 2007, pg. 403.
