1962 Audemars Piguet "Extra-Flat" Vintage Mens Midsize Watch - 18K Gold & Diamonds

Audemars Piguet

Item No. 10284

Today's offering showcases this mens midsize Audemars Piguet with full diamond bezel and ultra thin caliber 2003 movement.

Its thin gold case and white dial, give it a fashionable and elegant vintage style. And its full diamond bezel really make a statement.

As a mens midsize it is well-suited for someone who doesn't have a large wrist.

Just as fine on the inside as it is on the outside, the watch is powered by Audemars Piguet's legendary extra-flat movement, co-developed with Vacheron & Constantin.

Released in 1946 the minuscule movement was a true feat of technical engineering. It is the thinnest movement ever created for a normal size watch, measuring a mere 1.64mm!

To honor the achievement Vacheron & Constantin presented personalized examples to several key Heads of State including President Dwight Eisenhower. Only a few luxury watches in the following decades would lay claim to this movement earning them reputations as masterpieces of twentieth-century watchmaking.

It has all its original parts down to the hands and winding crown. Its bezel has previously been set with diamonds that are white, eye clean, and full of fire.

On the wrist, it presents beautifully. The back and lugs show signs of previous polishing and a few light remnants of wear. On the wrist the case presents in excellent condition.

Its clean white dial has been meticulously restored by one of the leading dial experts in North America.

One of our Master Watchmakers has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, tightening the tiny cannon pinion, replacing the complete balance with a correct AP replacement (which is the beating heart of the watch) doing extremely skilled delicate work on the hairspring reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (an $1895 value).

We have also timed it on a machine that simulates it being worn on the wrist. It is keeping very accurate time.

For the finishing touch, we have equipped it with a new leather band making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function and a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.
