1964 Omega Seamaster Mens Vintage Cal. 565 Watch with Smoked Sapphire Blue Dial - Stainless Steel

Omega

Item No. 10661

The Seamaster DeVille, showcasing both refinement and high function, was the most important Omega line from a sales perspective from the latter part of the 1960's into the 1970's.

Today's offering showcases this distinctive and pleasing c. 1964 Omega Seamaster De Ville with beautiful smoked sapphire blue dial. It has a classic Seamaster case design.

This Seamaster De Ville has the understated elegance that made Omega’s mid-century designs so enduring. Its slim round case, sharply defined lugs, restrained date display, and clean applied markers gave it it a polished elegant character and the custom refinished Smoked Sapphire Blue dial adds an unexpected richness that enhances it and makes it more distinctive.

The color is deeper and more complex than a conventional blue. In softer light it appears cool and slate-like, while direct light draws out saturated sapphire and subtle teal highlights from the sunburst finish. That constant movement gives the dial a sense of depth that is difficult to capture in photographs and makes the watch feel far more alive on the wrist.

The result is a vintage Omega with all the refinement of the original design, but with a more distinctive and contemporary character than the familiar silver or champagne examples.

To house the movement Omega used a monocoque - or one piece - case which insured water resistance and slim, elegant profile. The case when new achieved high water resistance ratings by not having a separate case back.

Powering the watch is Omega's top-tier caliber 562 movement, and one of the last superior 500's series movements used before Omega began trying to reduce their costs It was part of the top-tier 562/565 offering of the 500 series. It has 24 jewels and was one of the finest mass-produced automatic movements from the era.

It measures 34mm in diameter, the size of the mens Rolex Date model.

It has all of its original parts and has just finished a true expertly done restoration.

Its case presents as mint with light signs of polishing. On the wrist, it presents as beautiful mint.

Its original Omega dial has been meticulously custom refinished in smoked sapphire blue - the printing could pass as Omega factory done to the naked eye.

As part of the restoration, it has just been fully overhauled by a Master Watchmaker. It is running extremely strongly and true, keeping time nearly on par with a new Omega in our testing recording position.

For the finishing touch, it has been equipped with a brand new aftermarket calfskin leather strap in a complementary dark blue color and an aftermarket Omega style buckle making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
