Item No. 9601
$ 1,445.00
Today's offering showcases this rare, classic and pleasing Seamaster De Ville with rare caliber 560 movement of which only 3,000 examples were made.
These movements were split across nine models, making each in effect a "limited edition." The 560 was a movement made only for the U.S. market to cut down on import tariffs.
It has a water-resistant style case with screw back and timeless silver dial. Its wide hands and markers give it a slightly retro style.
This model was almost always branded Geneve on the dial. This is the uncommon version that doesn't have a model name on the dial.
It is full size for a vintage watch, measuring 35mm in diameter, in between the sizes of a Rolex Date and a Rolex Datejust. It was presumably a corporate gift for 30 years of dedicated service.
This classic example has original parts down to the dial and hands.
It's very honest, appearing to have had little or no polishing and never having any parts replaced except for the crown. Please inquire if you would like an Omega crown installed.
The case presents nicely with strong lines. It is very honest - it has never been polished at all. The back has a few light hairlines from previous opening. A light polish could make it present close to the mint. On the wrist it presents in excellent condition with only light wear.
Its silver dial is original and in excellent condition with only light aging. It has a toned sepia color, giving it a true vintage look - it is slightly more sepia tone than the photos seem to suggest.
One of our Master Watchmakers has disassembled the movement down to the last screw and fully serviced it including tightening the cannon pinion. It is running very strong and true, keeping time essentially on par with a new Omega in our testing recording position.
For the finishing touch, we have equipped it with a vintage styled Connoisseur of Time leather strap and aftermarket Omega style buckle making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
We also stock lizard and a variety of other straps in various prints, skins, and colors. Please ask us if you're interested.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a full-page custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
Note: Published examples of similar watches can be found in Marco Richon's work Omega: A Journey Through Time, 2007, pg. 403.
