Item No. 10368
$ 4,395.00
Today's offering showcases this handsome and classic thin mens dress watch, a wonderfully pure expression of mid-century Audemars Piguet watchmaking: a vintage ref. 5259 ultra-thin in 18K yellow gold.
It is in beautiful condition accompanied by its original AP band and original 18K gold AP buckle.
Featuring an elegant case with thin bezel and a classic dial (face), it possesses timeless elegance and class. And equipped with an extremely fine, original Audemars Piguet movement, it showcases top tier Swiss watchmaking. It has the same look as the ultra thin dress watches but without a caliber 2003 movement - this one is the slightly thicker and higher grade caliber 2001.
Like only the very finest watches in the world - select watches from the likes of Patek, AP, and V & C, it is adjusted to five positions, heat, cold, and even isochronism. Isochronism is the amount of wind left in the movement. Most watches slow down slightly as their power reserve moves toward empty - that is not the case with this watch. And like certain Patek Philippe watches from the era, its balance is free-sprung. It is very high-grade.
It measures 33.5mm in diameter without the crown.
Epitomizing the essence of "'the classic watch" remembered today, watches like this made by Patek, Vacheron & AP feature a manually wound movement, round gold cases, understated dial, and slender hands. As one writer aptly stated, "The extra-slim watch, whose style embraces only the strict essentials, has continued to seduce for its elegance and discretion."
We were fortunate to acquire it in such beautiful condition. It has all of its original parts down to it hands, winding crown, band, 18K gold buckle,and even the crystal!
Its case is in better than near mint condition with only light wear. It has not been recently polished. Please inquire if you would like us to. It has a crisp hallmark and sharp lines.
Its silver dial is bright and clean, showing only very slight toning on the left side.
One of our Master Watchmakers has disassembled it down to its last screw and cleaned and oiled it. It is very clean and running very strongly.
For the finishing touch, we have meticulously detailed it making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
