Today's offering showcases this uncommon, classic and pleasing automatic Omega. It features Omega's uncommon caliber 560 movement of which only 3,000 examples were made. These watches were made just for the U.S. market to avoid higher tariffs, and these 3,000 movements were split across 9 models, making each model in effect a very "limited edition."
In construction, it is a Seamaster, but this model was only very rarely branded so on the dial. Its gold-filled top "tropical" steel back case has the look of a solid gold Omega without the price tag.
Its dial has aged with a cool, almost parchment-like surface, showing fine branching lines that give it a beautifully timeworn appearance. The pattern is completely individual, lending the watch the kind of honest vintage character that cannot be recreated.
With the single exception of its winding crown, the rest of the watch has all of its original parts down to all of its hands. It presents on the wrist with a classic style.
Its case is in very good condition with moderate wear and pin pricks of gold wear on some of the high points. The back has a few opening marks as is common with these - it could be polished if desired. The case has never been previously heavily polished so it retains strong lines and presents nicely on the wrist.
Its dial is original and untouched.
One of our Master Watchmakers has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling it down to the last screw, carefully inspecting each part, reassembling and lubricating the movement, replacing the crystal with a new Omega one, a case clamp, and a screw and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $695 value).
It is running extremely strong and true, keeping time on par with a brand new Omega in our testing recording position.
For the finishing touch, we have equipped it with a distressed suede leather vintage styled strap and aftermarket Omega style buckle making it ready for immediate enjoyment. We also stock lizard and a variety of others straps in various prints, skins, and colors.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a full-page custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
