1965 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Vintage Mens 2-Tone Watch, Stainless Steel & 14K Gold - The Zephyr

Item No. 5592SH

Today's offering showcases this uncommon and very cool "Zephyr dial" Rolex Oyster Perpetual model #1008 encased in stainless steel and gold. Featuring a distinctive index bezel and special cross-hair dial, the "Zephyr" was designed by Rolex to epitomize the sports dress watch of the 1960's and early 1970's.

At the time of its launch, according to their marketing Rolex intended it to be a significant new direction and obtain a prominent position in their line. Despite its interesting look, it was a sales disappointment for Rolex and never became the de facto standard for a dressier Oyster Perpetual, although as is often the case with unsuccessful models, today their somewhat limited production numbers make them sought after by collectors.

Our Zephyr is in all original condition. Its watertight Oyster case is near mint. The Zephyr dial is just short of mint and shows only very slight aging. And it comes on its original Rolex USA Jubille bracelet.

A Master Watchmaker who specializes in Rolexes has fully serviced the watch using Rolex parts at a wholesale cost to us of $600. It continues to keep time nearly on par with a new Rolex in five chronometer positions.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
