1966 Omega Seamaster 600 Vintage Mens SS Steel Watch - Issued by Afghanistan Military

Omega

Item No. 8429

Today's offering showcases this very cool vintage Seamaster 600 mens watch issued by the Afghani Air Force, F.A.A. It is stamped on the back with the Seamaster logo, done off-centered compared to a normal Seamaster in order to accommodate the original Afghanistan military seal.

The 600 series was named because of the movement that powers the watch. Besides being handwound, a less common trait for a Seamaster, the Seamaster 600 also features a slightly thinner case than automatic Seamasters.

It measures just under 35mm in diameter without the crown, about one millimeter smaller than a Rolex Datejust.

Its dial has previously been flawlessly refinished, perhaps as part of its regular military servicing. Unlike most 600's which have dress style dials, this military issued version has the same Explorer style look as Omega Railmasters and Rancheros.

The case back shows wear and marks from previous openings for servicing and the previous removal of a hand-engraved name. The rest of the case presents as just short of mint with light signs of previous polishing. On the wrist it presents in gorgeous condition.

The crown is signed Omega. The hands are likely previous replacements and have a very fitting luminous Mercedes style that matches the watch nicely. Its movement, originally adjusted to two positions at the factory, is very clean.

One of our Master Watchmakers who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealer and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center to be an authorized Rolex watchmaker has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components with genuine Omega parts, installing a new mainspring, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing, testing and regulation (a $795 value).

It is running extremely strong and true, keeping time on par with a new Omega in our testing position.

For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new crocodile strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment. Please inquire if you would like a NATO style or more rugged style strap. We also have distressed leather straps in a vintage style.

Included with the purchase is a one-year warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate attesting to the watch's performance.
