1967 Breitling Navitimer Vintage Aviator's Chronograph - 18K Gold Plated & Stainless Steel

Breitling

Item No. 7959

"There has never been anyone in a plane's cockpit without a Breitling Navitimer on his wrist -- or who would at least wished to have one." - Musings of an aviation journalist

When the aircraft owners and pilots needed a timepiece that would better serve their needs in the cockpit, they called upon Breitling, the renowned manufacturer of technical watches, who rose to the occasion by creating the Navitimer, one of the most advanced aviation timepieces of its day.

Its rotating bezel functioned as a slide rule. Used as a navigational computer, it gave pilots the ability to calculate remaining distances, fuel consumption, and other critical flight equations with ease.

Today's offering showcases this wonderful second generation Navitimer with stunning original panda dial. Its large case has a so-called "tropical" construction, an 18K gold plated case top with stainless steel back.

We were fortunate to acquire it in such pleasing condition. Its dial retains a strong black color with very little fading over the years. It is untouched and mint. Its case presents in beautiful condition with only light signs of previous polishing. The top plating looks like it has previously been redone.

Its Breitling Venus 178 movement is very clean.

A Master Watchmaker has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $795 value).

After more than half a century it keeps perfect time on par with a brand new Breitling chronometer in our testing position.

For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new very high quality crocodile strap with so called soft "Cartier" lining making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Accompanying it is a Breitling service box and polishing cloth.

Like always, included with the purchase is a full one-year international warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate attesting to its performance.
