Today's offering showcases this very fine and meticulously restored IWC Yacht Club powered by the Albert Pellaton designed Caliber 8541 movement. 36mm in diameter without the large crown, it is the same size as a Rolex Datejust.
IWC built the movement of this very fine wristwatch in 1967 at the same they were building their famous Ingenieur line. Designed to be more stylish and sporty than the pragmatic Ingenieur, though still extremely durable, these large men's watches retained the high-performance timekeeping qualities of their sibling under normal wearing conditions.
These dress watches were more elegant than the pragmatic Ingenieur but shared the high-performance timekeeping qualities in normal wearing conditions. And compared to an Ingenieur, because they do not have a second inner back, the cases are thinner and lighter on the wrist.
More than just stylish and durable, this impressive Yacht Club is a precision timekeeping instrument. Powered by the Pellaton Caliber 8541 movement, the same caliber found in Ingenieurs, this mechanism's automatic winding system is a technical masterpiece, earning it high praise. Gisbert Brunner and Christian Pfeiffer-Belli in their work, Wristwatches Armbanduhren Montres-bracelets, proclaimed it "one of the best automatic movements ever built in Switzerland."
It is in gorgeous true expertly restored condition and presents as mint on the wrist. It is fully IWC down to the original fished signed waterproof crown which presents in mint condition.
The dial is a past perfect refinishing. The printing could pass as IWC factory done to the naked eye. It presents as just short of perfect mint. Note that the color came out looking brighter in the photos than it does in person.
As part of the restoration the movement has been freshly fully overhauled by a Master Watchamaker and is running very accurately.
For the finishing touch it has been equipped with a brand new leather strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate attesting to its performance.
