It was the watch for the enthusiast who followed racing not as spectacle, but as a way of life.

Heuer built the Camaro at a moment when they were becoming the dominant name in motorsport timing. By the late 1960s, Heuer timing systems were fixtures at Formula One circuits, rally stages, and endurance paddocks around the world. Their split-second chronographs were clutched by scorers at Monte Carlo; their dashboard timers sat bolted into rally cars; their gear sat on the timing bridges above the world’s most important circuits. The Camaro was conceived within this culture - something intended to feel as tough and mechanical as the pit lane it was born from.

The Camaro was created squarely within that competitive environment, reflecting the bold geometry, high legibility, and mechanical reliability that professional teams demanded. Its cushion-shaped case sits at the crossroads of two eras - pairing the classic aesthetic of 1960s hand-wound chronographs with a forward-looking design language that echoed the muscularity of racing instruments.

The 73343 was released late in the Camaro production era. As such the number of these Camaros to be found is far less than that of the 7743 - experts have estimated that 1350 of these watches were made.

Today's offering showcasese this 73343T, the most boldly version styled of the line, with panda subdials and distinctive hands.

Powering the watch is Heuer's manual-wind Valjoux 7733 movement - trusted in this period for demanding timing environments.

For those not familiar with the Benrus branded watches, while the dial bears the Benrus name, the watch itself was manufactured by Heuer and is 100% identical to the Heuer branded watches, save the signature. These Benrus watches were made for the U.S. market. They even have Heuer serial numbers.

We are pleased to offer the watch in almost totally original condition. With the one exception of the sweep hands, all parts of the watch are original.

Its stainless steel case retains excellent definition, with attractive factory applied sunburst brushing that highlights its distinctive form. It shows fairly light wear and does not appear to have ever been polished. The back has previously been lightly brushed. A light refinishing could make it present close to mint.

Its original dial displays its crisp silver finish, cleanly applied indices, printed minute track, and two dark gray "panda" sharply recessed sub-registers with concentric guilloché. The untouched tritium luminous material has tone evenly and attractively across hands and plots. It has one small loss of finish by seven. It presents as just short of mint.

One of our Master Watchmakers has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $995 value).

We have also timed it on a machine that simulates it being worn on the wrist. It is running very strong and true, keeping time on par with a new TAG Heuer chronograph.

For the finishing touch, we have meticulously detailed it and installed a brand new calfskin leather strap with constrast stitching and aftermarket Heuer style buckle making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Like always, included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function and a full-page custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.

The watch presents as a cohesive and nearly all-original example of Heuer’s motorsport DNA.

Your watch is important to us, and we will take care of it for its lifetime.
