In 1968, Omega introduced to the world a very cool new timing instrument called the Chronostop. Capable of timing events precisely to within 1/5 second with fractional markings on the dial, but accomplishing this in a way unlike all previous chronographs and stopwatches, this innovative wristwatch was in a class by itself.
What you first notice when you view a Chronostop is that it is not a traditional chronograph - it seems that its second pusher and a subdial for tracking elapsed time are missing. And this is what makes these watches distinctive; the Chronostop doesn't need them. It is in essence a stripped down chronograph with flyback. Once the chronograph has started its timing, the button can be depressed and held to read the time and when it is released it flysback to a stopped zero position.
In my opinion these watches remain undervalued for the level of function and quality they have as an Omega and for their relative uncommoness. They cost hardly more than a ubiquitous Seamaster. While not everyone loves retro styled watches, if you do, this is a perfect watch for your collection.
We were fortunate to acquire our first-edition Chronostop is such gorgeous condition.
It has all of its original parts, and its untouched original dial is mint with very slight toning of the luminous. Its case presents as mint. The sunburst brushing on the bezel presents gorgeously. And its original movement is near pristine.
A Master Watchmaker has freshly overhauled its unique Omega movement which is keeping accurate time.
For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new leather strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
An more than half-century old original dial Chronostop that presents like new on the wrist.
