Today's offering showcases this impeccably restored example of one of Omega's ultra-thin automatic vintage watches.
Living up to its name as one of the sophisticated "De Ville" models, it features a classic round case, bright Tiffany blue dial, and very fine automatic Omega movement.
It is nice and pleasingly larger than most similar dress watches from the era - it measures 36mm without the crown - the same size as a mens Rolex Datejust.
The watch's original dial has been meticulously refinished in a vibrant Tiffany-inspired blue that is brighter and even more vibrant in person than the photographs suggest. Slightly richer and deeper than the pale pastel shades often associated with Tiffany blue, it is bright, clean, and unmistakably eye-catching, it brings a fresh contemporary feel to the classic De Ville design while remaining tasteful and elegant.
The crisp black Roman numerals and slender black hands create dramatic contrast against the blue backdrop, while the minimalist design leaves the dial largely uninterrupted, allowing the color to take center stage. The result is a watch that feels both timeless and contemporary, pairing Omega's elegant De Ville design with one of the most captivating dial colors in modern watch collecting.
We think the combination transforms an already attractive vintage Omega into something memorable.
Powering it is Omega's very fine thin automatic caliber 711 movement. It has 24 jewels and is adjusted to two positions.
The 700 series has a direct lineage to the celebrated 500 series, and is arguably as good, and collectors are beginning to recognize it accordingly. It was the last very fine movement series of its kind before Omega began to make budget cuts because of the quartz revolution.
It is fully Omega and has had a true expertly done restoration. It presents in gorgeous condition - a 9.6 out of 10. Our photos couldn't do it justice.
Its case presents as mint with only light signs of having been polished and slight aging around the edge of the engine bay as is common with these.
Its original Omega dial has been meticulously custom refinished in a Tiffany & Co. robin's egg blue inspired color - the printing could pass as Omega factory done to the naked eye.
As part of the restoration, the movement has just been overhauled by a Master Watchmaker.
After more than half a century, it is still keeping extremely accurate time on par with a brand new Omega in our testing recording position. Photos of the inside available upon request.
Because of the original crown's small size and semi-recessed position, it's a great candidate to be put on a watch winder so you don't ever have to concern yourself with handwinding it.
For the finishing touch, we have equipped it with a brand new calfksin leather strap with aftermarket Omega style logo has been installed making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
