The superior automatic IWC featured in today's offering is powered by the Albert Pellaton designed Caliber 8541B movement. This mechanism's automatic winding system is a technical masterpiece, earning it high praise - Gisbert Brunner and Christian Pfeiffer-Belli in their work, Wristwatches Armbanduhren Montres-bracelets, proclaimed the 85x series "one of the best automatic movements ever built in Switzerland."
And the famous watchmaker Donald de Carle, in his book Complicated Watches and their Repair, stated that IWC's special automatic winding mechanism was "a simple and ingenious system, well constructed and beautifully finished."
IWC built the movement of this watch in 1969 at the same they were building their famous Ingenieur line. Unlike many IWC movements, this high-grade 8541B is adjusted to five positions.
Its monocoque - or one-piece - case, which when new achieved high water resistance ratings by not having a separate case back, if full size with a cool retro style. It measures 35mm in diameter without the crown, in between the size of Rolex Date and Datejust models.
All of its parts are original down to its dial, hands, and its original signed winding crown. It has just finished a true expertly done restoration and presents as gorgeous mint.
Its case presents as just short of perfect mint. The back has just the slightest remnants of wear. On the wrist it presents as gorgeous mint.
Its matte black dial has been meticulously restored - the printing could pass as IWC factory done to the naked eye.
As part of the restoration, the movement has been freshly overhauled by a Master Watchmaker. It winds extremely smoothly and is keeping accurate time.
For the finishing touch it has been equipped it with a brand new leather strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year warranty on the movement and its function and a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.
You won't be disappointed - a more than half-century old IWC that looks like new on the wrist!
