1969 Omega Geneve Vintage Mens Waterproof Style Classic Watch - Stainless Steel

Omega

Item No. 10580

The meticulously restored wristwatch showcased in today's offering is a classic example of one of Omega's early retro vintage gent's Geneve watches.

It circa dates to 1969 where it might have laid next to the Speedmaster Professional that would be headed to the Moon.

Beginning in 1953 Omega placed the name Geneve on the dials of some of the members of the 30mm collection which at the time were produced in the company's workshops in Geneve (to put Geneve on a dial of a watch certain components and processes must take place in Geneve). According to Omega the name referred to the Genevan Observatory where the early 30mm calibers set a number of records.

It features a classic early retro waterproof style tonneau case, gloss black dial with baguette markers, wide boy hands, and a high grade Omega handwound movement originally adjusted to two positions.

This watch have a very satisfying presence. No date window interrupting the dial. No unnecessary text. No decorative flourishes competing for attention. Just time, presented with clarity and confidence.

The brushed tonneau-style case gives it a distinctly modern character for its era, while the stark black dial and bright applied baton markers create a crisp appearance that feels every bit as contemporary today as it did when it left the factory. It is a watch that demonstrates how powerful restraint can be.

In the right light the dial looks really great. The deep black surface acts almost like a stage for the polished markers and hands, creating strong contrast and exceptional legibility. The applied Omega logo and simple Genève signature provide just enough branding without disturbing the dial's balance.

The case is very balanced as well. The angular lugs flow directly from the case body, giving the watch a clean, integrated appearance that perfectly reflects the era's fascination with modern industrial design.

It has all of its original parts and has just finished a true expertly done restoration. It presents in gorgeous condition - it presents as a 9.7 out of 10.

Its tonneau case with prominent lugs presents in mint condition.

Its matte black dial has been meticulously restored - the printing could pass as Omega factory done to the naked eye.

As part of the restoration, it has just fully overhauled by a Master Watchmaker. It is running strong and true, keeping very accurate time in our testing recording position.

For the finishing touch, we have equipped it with a brand new calfskin leather strap and aftermarket Omega style buckle making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.

A five decade old Omega that looks like new on the wrist!
