Today's offering showcases this striking example of one of Omega's classic vintage gent's De Ville watches.
Living up to its name as one of the upscale "De Ville" models, it features a sophisticated case, classic silver dial, and very fine automatic Omega movement.
It is an uncommon model that featured an automatic movement in a rectangular - most often automatic movements were only put in round cases. Despite it's low profile, because of its indirectly driven minutes and seconds, space was left in the center for a rugged rotor bearing, which allowed Omega at times to fit the movement in the thinner rectangular cases.
The dial features a very cool expertly handpainted picture of the Disney character Pluto, Mickey Mouse's charming dog.
Powering the watch is its original caliber 1002 automatic movement with quick-setting date. It is one of the early 10xx series of movements that powered many of Omega's watches from the era including Seamasters and was even worked into a chronometer version.
It is fully Omega down to the original hands and winding crown. It presents in true expertly restored condition. The original dial has been meticulously refinished - the printing could pass as Omega factory done to the naked eye. And the perfectly custom hand painted Pluto gives it a distinctive look.
It has just been fully overhauled by a Master Watchmaker including installing a new mineral glass crystal.
Its movement is very clean and is keeping very accurate time.
For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new leather strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
