Around the 1970's Omega commissioned a number of leading designers to create very retro styled watches. Most of the watches we've seen are elegant and some also pushed the design envelope of the times.
The uncommon and really cool wristwatch featured in today's offering is a prime example of one of these 70's retro Omega dress watches.
It features a large "widescreen" TV case, a distinctive two-tone silver and royal blue dial with an awesome dimensional tiered design and inset markers, and a high-grade automatic Omega movement packed inside the oblong case.
The case features an innovative design where two metals rods secure the back and hold it together to initially give it water resistance.
Measuring an extra-large 45mm in diameter by 37.5mm "long" lug tip to tip, it is pleasingly larger than most vintage watches.
Although most rectangular watches from the era had handwound movements because of size constraints this watch has a small caliber 684 engine that could be fit into the special case.
It is fully Omega down to the hands, winding crown, and even signed original crystal! It has just finished a true expertly done restoration and presents in gorgeous condition. Our photos couldn't begin to do it justice!
Its wonderful and masculine case presents as mint. Its dial has been meticulously restored - the printing looks Omega factory done to the naked eye.
As part of the restoration the movement has just been fully overhauled by a Master Watchmaker. It winds very smoothly. For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new calfskin leather strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a full-page custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
A four and a half decade old Omega that presents like new! Don't the miss the chance to own a special retro yet elegant vintage Omega.
