The Omega Seamaster Cosmic 2000 showcased in today's offering is a classic retro example of one of these watches. At a time when the quartz revolution was taking place this watch with automatic Cal. 1022 movement carried on both the style and mechanical functionality of a traditional Seamaster.
Cosmic 2000 watches were large for the era, measuring 38mm in diameter. They fit in well with today's larger look.
This is an early double quick-setting day date Omega watch. Omega created the 1020 series movement with a double quick-set capability for convenient setting of the day and date. Although the idea of the double quick-set watch is most associated with Rolex, which first offered the President model with this "new" feature in late 1990, Omega's 1020 series mechanisms were a pioneer of the technology in large scale production watches.
But what stands out most about this example is how it presents in gorgeous restored condition. On the wrist it presents essentially like new.
It presents in true expertly restored condition. The dial has been previously refinished and the printing could pass as Omega factory done. The case back shows signs of previous polishing and the logo is just faintly visible.
As part of the restoration a Master Watchmaker has fully serviced the movement. We have timed it on a state-of-the-art computerized system, and it is running very true.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate attesting to its performance.
Omega is perhaps best known for its Seamaster line of dive watches. Introduced in 1948, they have been were embraced by water sports enthusiasts and marry a striking look with a high performance movement.
