During the latter half of the 1950's in the era of the '57 Chevy and the Cadillac fin, Jaeger-LeCoultre made avante garde wristwatches for the U.S. market. Embodying distinctive design from the period, they are funky and original, yet elegant enough to be worn on the wrists of discriminating ladies and collectors.
Among the most interesting of these is the uncommon asymmetrical. Today's offering showcases this prime original example of the rarest version of these watches - one with Jaeger-LeCoultre factory diamond dial with full diamond indices.
We were fortunate to acquire this fine gentleman's watch in beautiful original condition. The condition of the case is better than almost any other we have owned. It is fully JLC / LeCoultre down to the hands and signed crown.
The case is just short of mint. The edges and the factory Florentine texturing are crisp - they have never been polished, and the original factory applied satin finish to the back is in gorgeous condition.
Its case gives us a bit of history about the watch. According to the presentation on the back it was gifted on Christmas Day, 1971.
Its untouched original dial shows only fairly light aging.
One of our Master Watchmakers has disassembled its high grade LeCoultre caliber 438/CW movement down to its last screw and cleaned and oiled it and installed a correct new-old-stock mineral glass crystal. It is very clean and running strongly.
For the finishing touch, we have equipped it with a brand new Teju lizard strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a full-page custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
Your watch is important to us, and we will take care of it for its lifetime. We provide the best after sale care in the business with an extremely experienced team of four Master Watchmakers all of whom each have over thirty-five years of experience and a large number of parts. One used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealership and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center.
Don't miss the chance to own a prime original example of a watch that unites the worlds of art and horology as both a noteworthy 1950's design and a high-grade timepiece.
