Today's offering showcases this classic Omega De Ville in gorgeous restored condition. It is an uncommon model with a distinctive case. Our photos couldn't do it justice!
It has a pleasingly full size for the era 36mm case, the same size as a Rolex Datejust.
Living up to its name as one of the elegant and sophisticated "De Ville" models, it has a shapely stainless steel case, royal blue dial, and automatic caliber movement used in Seamasters from the era. Its monocoque or one-piece case originally helped it achieve a greater level of water-resistance.
Powering it is Omega's caliber 752 movement with twenty-four jewels (seven more than in many Seamaster versions from the period), day of the week indication, and a quick-setting date.
The 700 series has a direct lineage with the celebrated 500 series, and is arguably as good, and collectors are beginning to recognize it accordingly.
It has a really cool retro style and great presence on the wrist - it's not your run-of-the-mill De Ville from the era. Omega used its brand new-at-the-time slim automatic winding system which allowed the movement to fit into an elegant rectangular watch without it becoming to bulky.
It is fully Omega down to the original hands and winding crown. It has just finished a true expertly done restoration and presents in gorgeous condition.
The case presents as mint. The original Omega dial with steel baton markers has been meticulously restored - its printing could pass as Omega factory done to the naked eye.
A Master Watchmaker has disassembled it down to its last screw and overhauled it. It is running strong and true.
For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a new leather strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
Omega is perhaps best known by watch connoisseurs for its Seamaster line of dive watches. Introduced in 1948, they have been embraced by water sports enthusiasts and marry a striking look with a high performance movement.
Omega watches can be found on the wrists of many prominent figures including Pierce Brosnan, Michael Schumacher, Michael Phelps, Ernie Els, Prince William, and one graced the wrist of President John F. Kennedy. Omega has been the official timekeeper for 21 Olympic Games and is the official chronometer of NASA.
