1972 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Vintage Mens Watch, Ref. 1002 - 14K Gold

Rolex

Item No. 9471SH

Today's offering showcases this classic and original Rolex Oyster Perpetual ref. #1002 encased in 14K gold. It has a Chase bank provenance on the back confirming its sale date of 1972.

Possessing understated elegance and clean lines this Oyster Perpetual showcases a truly classic style.

As precise as it is classic, this watch is powered by a well-regarded movement, one of the mechanisms that powered early Submariner, Explorer, and GMT models.

We were fortunate to acquire it in beautiful original condition.

Its case presents as just short of mint with light signs of previous polishing to the back. Its untouched original champagne dial is mint with beautifully toned luminous. It appears mint even under magnification, with only the slightest loss of luminous. To the naked eye it presents as perfect mint.

One of our Master Watchmakers, who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealer and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center to be an authorized Rolex watchmaker, has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components with genuine Rolex parts, installing a new mainspring, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $895 value).

For the finishing touch, we have equipped it with a brand new crocodile strap and aftermarket Rolex style buckle making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a full-page custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.

Note: A published example of this model can be found in Osvaldo Patrizzi's work Rolex, Collecting Wristwatches, 2001 Edition, Guido Mondani editor, Vol. 2, pg. 10.
