The wristwatch showcased in today's offering is a prime example of one of Omega's vintage gent's Geneve watches. We were fortunate to acquire it in such gorgeous all-original condition!
Beginning in 1953 Omega placed the name Geneve on the dials of some of the members of the 30mm collection which at the time were produced in the company's workshops in Geneve (to put Geneve on a dial of a watch certain components and processes must take place in Geneve). According to Omega the name referred to to the Genevan Observatory where the early 30mm calibers set a number of records.
It features a classic, waterproof style tonneau case, elegant silver dial with baton markers, and automatic Omega movement with quick-setting date.
It is full size and larger for the era measuring just over 36mm in diameter - a little larger than of a Rolex Datejust.
Powering it is Omega's automatic caliber 1012 engine found in Seamasters and other models from the era. It has 23 jewels, seven more than most Omega's from the era.
It is all original down to the dial, hands, and winding crown and even the signed Omega crystal!
Its case is just short of perfect mint with the slightest bit of aging under the lugs and the slightest signs of previous polishing. On the wrist it presents as mint.
Its untouched original dial is mint.
A Master Watchmaker has just fully overhauled the movement. It is keeping very accurate time.
For the finishing touch it has been equipped with a brand new leather strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate attesting to its performance.
