Today's offering showcases this classic Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust encased in stainless steel.
Featuring clean lines and a sharp look, this watch embodies Rolex's timeless class. To us, when it comes to elegance and refinement, the Rolex "pie-pan" dial models from the late 50's through the mid-'70's were front-runners of the period.
As precise as it is classic, the watch is powered by a mechanism that powered many early models of the Submariner, Explorer, and GMT models. A superior mechanism, it offers a level of engineering and craftsmanship that is exceptional.
Ours is in all original condition. The centerpiece is its untouched original "pie-pan" dial. Which is in gorgeous mint condition. The luminous is perfect to the naked eye.
Its case is in excellent condition with only light wear to the underside. On the wrist it presents beautifully. The bezel has never been polished so it retains crisp engine turning. Its correct original Rolex U.S.A. Jubilee bracelet is just short of mint.
One of our Master Watchmakers, who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealership and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center, has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components with genuine Rolex replacements, installing a new mainspring. reassembling and lubricating the movement, replacing all of the waterproofing seals with new gaskets, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $895 value).
It is running strong and true, keeping time on par with a new Rolex in our testing recording position.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
Note: A published example of this model can be found in Osvaldo Patrizzi's work Rolex, Collecting Wristwatches, 2001 Edition, Guido Mondani editor, Vol. 2, pg. 37.
