Today's offering showcases this striking example of one of Omega's classic vintage gent's Geneve watches.
It has an elegant dress style case, classic silver dial with very cool hand painted picture of Pluto, and a high grade handwound Omega movement.
Powering the watch is its original caliber 1012 automatic movement with quick-setting date and higher jewel count (23 jewels). It is one of the 10xx series of movements that powered many of Omega's watches from the era including Seamasters and was even worked into a chronometer version.
It is fully Omega down to the original hands and winding crown. It presents in true expertly restored condition. The original dial has been meticulously refinished - the printing could pass as Omega factory done to the naked eye.
The original dial has previously been perfectly custom hand painted with Pluto, Mickey Mouse's pet dog.
It has just been fully overhauled by a Master Watchmaker including installing a new mineral glass crystal, a $395 value.
Its movement is very clean. We have timed it in five chronometer positions, and it is keeping very accurate time nearly on par with a new Omega. Photos of the inside available upon request.
For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new leather strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
Omega watches can be found on the wrists of many prominent figures including Pierce Brosnan, Michael Schumacher, Michael Phelps, Ernie Els, Prince William, and one graced the wrist of President John F. Kennedy. Omega has been the official timekeeper for 21 Olympic Games and is the official chronometer of NASA.
Beginning in 1953 Omega placed the name Geneve on the dials of some of the members of the 30mm collection which at the time were produced in the company's workshops in Geneve (to put Geneve on a dial of a watch certain components and processes must take place in Geneve) and later expanded the line of watches featuring the name. According to Omega the name referred to to the Genevan Observatory where the early 30mm calibers set a number of records.
