Founded in Havana in 1882, Cuervo y Sobrinos established itself as Latin America’s premier jeweler, attracting international celebrities, writers, and statesmen who sought its blend of Caribbean style and Swiss craftsmanship. Today, the revived brand continues to honor this dual heritage, fusing design-forward aesthetics with horological innovation.
According to the brand, “The Buceador is a collection of contemporary divers’ watches encompassing the numerous shades of the oceanic waters surrounding Cuba’s coastline. Indeed, the cyan coloured seas, the pastel sands and the black corals, indigenous to the region, have provided a rich source of inspiration for the Cuervo y Sobrinos design team.”
The Robusto Buceador, Ref. 2806-1BA, features an inner rotating bezel that locks in place to track elapsed time when diving or when doing many other activities.
Its large 43mm case with great curves and fantastic lugs conveys modern robustness while retaining Cuervo y Sobrinos’ elegant Havana-inspired flair. The dial is a striking composition: white with a wave-textured centered, accented by vivid orange and yellow hands and chapter markings, and a recessed inner rotating elapsed time bezel track that adds architectural depth. The applied date window at 6 completes the symmetry.
It is all original and in gorgeous condition. The watch itself presents as a 9.6 out of 10 with a few specks of wear around the edge of the back. Its dial and sapphire crystal are both like new.
Its original white strap with orange stitching and a signed deployant clasp shows fairly light signs of wear and is very serviceable. If you chose to install a new band, the watch would present like new on the wrist.
Completing the package, it comes with its original papers and instructions.
A Master Watchmaker has disassembled it down to its last screw and cleaned and oiled it.
It is running very strong and true, keeping time on par with a brand new Cuervo y Sobrinos watch.
Included with the purchase is a one-year warranty on the movement and its function and a new timing certificate attesting to the watch’s performance.
