Today's offering showcases this gorgeously restored example of one of Omega's classic vintage De Ville watches.
Living up to its name as one of the elegant and sophisticated "De Ville" models, it has a classic case and pleasing Tiffany blue turquoise dial. The color is a little less green and a little more blue than the photos seem to suggest.
Our photos couldn't come close to doing it justice!
Powering the watch is Omega's very fine caliber 565 movement used in Seamasters, and one of the last superior 500's series movements used before Omega began trying to reduce their costs.
Omega's 500 series was one of the finest mass produced automatics from the era, the 565 was the top tier offering. Arguably the finest mass-produced automatic movement from the era, despite the appreciation it receives it too remains not yet fully appreciated.
Watches that feature these are excellent buys today because of their quality and relative ease and low cost for servicing.
Its monocoque - or one-piece - Omega case, which when new achieved high water resistance ratings by not having a separate case back measures 34mm in diameter - the same size as a Rolex Date model.
It is fully Omega down to the original hands and winding crown and has just finished a true expertly done restoration. It presents as a 9.7 out of 10.
The case presents as mint with lights signs of polishing to the back and a few very light remnants of wear to the back from the buckle contacting it. On the wrist it presents as mint. The dial has been meticulously custom refinished in a tone like Tiffany & Co.'s robin's egg blue - the printing could pass as Omega factory done to the naked eye.
As part of the restoration a Master Watchmaker has overhauled the movement.
For the finishing touch it has been equipped it with a new leather strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year warranty on the movement and its function and a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.
A five decade old Omega that presents like new on the wrist!
Omega watches can be found on the wrists of many prominent figures including Pierce Brosnan, Michael Schumacher, Michael Phelps, Ernie Els, Prince William, and one graced the wrist of President John F. Kennedy. Omega has been the official timekeeper for 21 Olympic Games and is the official chronometer of NASA.
