Cartier "Baignoire 1920" Ladies Vintage Handwound Watch - 18K Gold

Cartier

Item No. 6685

Gracious and elegant, the Cartier Baignoire 1920 watch embodies the true essence of feminine style. As Cartier aptly states, "The Baignoire's clean lines and Roman numerals mark the gentle passing of feminine time, the hours of which possess their own poetry."

We are pleased to offer this very fine ladies vintage Cartier Baignoire in beautiful condition. It case is done in the Baignoire Vendome style.

The case is in excellent condition with light wear the back - on the wrist it presents as mint. The original dial is just short of perfect mint, and the crystal is mint too. And its handwound mechanical movement is running true.

Before cost-cutting measures brought about the widespread use of cheaper quartz movements for many wristwatches, Cartier contracted with watch manufacturers to produce mechanical movements designed to last a lifetime. For this watch they contracted the fine Swiss firm of Bueche Girod.

Using traditional watchmaking practices, these gifted craftsmen poured individual attention into each wristwatch. As a result, mens Cartier wristwatches with mechanical movements are often more sought after by collectors than their quartz counterparts.

One of our watchmakers has disassembled it down to the last screw and cleaned and oiled it.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate attesting to its performance.

Retail Price For a New Baignoire: $10,900.00 USD for a version with quartz movement. Cartier's watches with handwound movements cost significantly more.

Cartier Baignoire:
Celebrated for their impeccable quality and flawless designs, Cartier watches rank among the most luxurious and expensive in the world. Worn by Jennifer Aniston, Anna Wintour, and the late Princess Diana, the company's watches have long been favorites of royalty, Hollywood celebrities, and any woman desiring to wear a timepiece of distinction.

The 1912 design of the watch that would later be christened the "Baignoire" demonstrated Cartier's prowess in crafting watchmaking forms. An elegant ellipse uniquely forged in a single line, the "Baignoire" watch is the essence of Cartier style: an unmatched marriage of purity and timeless chic.
