Cartier Ceinture Vintage Mens Midsize Unisex Mechanical Watch - Solid 18K Gold

Cartier

Item No. 5740

Today's offering showcases this carce and very pleasing vintage Cartier Ceinture watch. The Ceinture is one of Cartier's enduring and distinctive designs first produced in 1927. It was was one of the first watches with the crown inset into the case for protection. The company revived the watch in 1973 as part of their Collection Louis Cartier.

This beautiful original example features the iconic solid 18K gold Ceinture case, classic white Roman dial with blue steel hands, seven-sided winding crown protected by the case.

As mens small mens midsize, it is best suited for a woman or a man looking for a small mens watch.

Powering the watch is a handwound Cartier mechanism. Before cost-cutting measures brought about the widespread use of cheaper quartz movements for certain wristwatches, Cartier utilized Swiss-crafted mechanical movements. Because of this extra care and craftsmanship, Cartier wristwatches with mechanical movements are often considered more desirable than their quartz counterparts.

It is all original down to the dial, hands, winding crown, and original solid 18K gold Cartier buckle.

The only replacement parts on the watch are the screws holding the case together. Because they are made from soft 18K gold the originals tend to wear out over time and compromise the integrity of the case seal. We replaced the old screws with brand new solid 18K gold screws that should last for decades again.

Our watchmaker has freshly cleaned and oiled the watch and installed a brand new mineral glass crystal.

For the finishing touch we have installed a brand new Teju lizard strap that has a similar style to Cartier bands and equipped with a gold tone unsigned buckle. Also accompanying it is a previously worn red crocodile band that is the correct size for the original Cartier buckle.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function and a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity.
