The Must de Cartier 21 takes one of Cartier’s most familiar design elements and uses it in an unexpectedly modern way. Rather than placing its Roman numerals on the dial, like with the Tank, Santos, Panthère, or most of the other Cartier designs you already know, Cartier engraves them around the broad bezel, leaving the center of the watch remarkably clean and open.

The silver-toned dial, blued hands, and discreet Must de Cartier signature create an elegant counterpoint to the more architectural bezel, while the sapphire-set crown supplies Cartier’s characteristic touch of color.

Equally appealing is the way the case and bracelet work together. The bracelet flows almost directly into the sculpted case, giving the watch the appearance of a piece of jewelry designed as a whole rather than a watch simply fitted with a bracelet.
