The Octagon is a seldom seen watch in the Santos line and is one of the affordable distinctive luxury watches. It is beautifully styled and its eight-sided bezel is suggestive of the iconic Audemars Piguet Royal Oak.
Not a large watch, this Connoisseur of Time Certified Pre-Owned mens Octagon measures 31mm wide and the crown and guards add a couple more millimeters.
It features a stainless steel and 18K gold case with octagonal bezel, classic white Roman dial with blue steel "epee" hands, sapphire topped crown, and mechanical movement.
Unlike the quartz version of the Santos, this more desirable mechanical example possesses an automatic movement and in a way showcases the timeless art of traditional watchmaking.
Besides its beautiful condition, what sets this example apart from others is its unique "Godron" bracelet. We have been told that the bracelet was a special edition made only for one year in the '90's.v It has all of its original parts and presents as gorgeous condition - about a 9.7 out of 10. On the wrist, it presents nearly like new.
Its case presents mint condition. Unlike many examples it still strongly retains its original lightly stamped serial number.
A Master Watchmaker has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $595 value).
It is running strong and extremely true, keeping time better than many new Cartiers in our testing recording position.
The waterproofing gaskets in these are known for making the watch quite difficult to wind even after servicing. That is not the case with this one - it winds without difficulty. If you would prefer never to handwind it, it's a great candidate to be placed on a watch winder for convenience.
For the finishing touch, it has been meticulously detailed making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a full-page custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
Retail replacement value for a new steel and gold Santos: $8,500.00 USD

Cartier Santos:
Worn by Bill Clinton, Elton John, Djimon Hounsou, Jennifer Aniston, Anna Wintour, and the late Princess Diana, Cartier watches have long been favorites of royalty, Hollywood celebrities, and anyone desiring to wear a timepiece of distinction.
Cartier created the Santos in honor of the famous Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont. Alberto Santos-Dumont, a true daring aviation pioneer, flew in France and Europe in some of the first prototype airplanes. After hearing complaints from his friend about how difficult it was to access his pocket watch in the cockpit, Cartier rose to the challenge by creating a special watch that could be strapped to the wrist.
