The Octagon is a seldom seen watch in the Santos line and is one of the affordable distinctive luxury watches. It is beautifully styled and its eight-sided bezel is suggestive of the iconic Audemars Piguet Royal Oak.
Not a large watch, this mens Octagon measures 31mm wide and the crown and guards add a couple more millimeters. It features a stainless steel and 18K gold case with octagonal bezel, classic white Roman dial with blue steel "epee" hands, sapphire topped crown, and mechanical movement.
Unlike the quartz version of the Santos, this more desirable mechanical example possesses an automatic movement and in a way showcases the timeless art of traditional watchmaking.
Besides its beautiful condition, what sets this example apart from others is its unique "Godron" bracelet. We have been told by another dealer that the bracelet was a special edition made only for one year in the '90's.
The watch is 100% Cartier and presents as gorgeous condition - about a 9.6 out of 10. On the wrist it presents nearly like new. Our watchmaker has just freshly cleaned and oiled the movement, and we have timed it in five chronometer testing positions.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
Cartier created the Santos in honor of the famous Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont. Alberto Santos-Dumont, a true daring aviation pioneer, flew in France and Europe in some of the first prototype airplanes.
