Perhaps the most iconic Cartier watch is the Tank. Designed personally by Louis Cartier in 1917 and patterned after an army tank, Cartier's Tank symbolized speed and achievement, and an unstoppable force. Today, these watches are easily recognized across as room as a Cartier.
Today's offering showcases this pleasing original mens Cartier Tank. It features an iconic solid 18K gold tank case, classic cream Roman dial with blue steel hands, sapphire topped crown, and Cartier handwound mechanism.
Before cost-cutting measures brought about the widespread use of cheaper quartz movements for certain wristwatches, Cartier utilized Swiss-crafted mechanical movements. Using centuries old watchmaking practices, craftsmen poured individual attention into each wristwatch. Because of this extra care and craftsmanship, Cartier wristwatches with mechanical movements are often considered more desirable than their quartz counterparts.
It is fully Cartier down to the dial, hands, winding crown, and even the original solid 18K gold Cartier buckle. It is in very pleasing condition. The case presents as just short of mint and the dial as mint. One of the original hands has a partial darkening.
Our watchmaker has freshly serviced the movement and installed a new mineral glass crystal. We have also installed a brand new aftermarket crocodile band that fits the watch's original buckle. (The buckle by itself would sell for about $350).
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
Worn by Bill Clinton, Elton John, and Djimon Hounsou, Cartier watches have long been favorites of royalty, Hollywood celebrities, and any gentleman desiring to wear a timepiece of distinction.
