Designed personally by Louis Cartier in 1917 and patterned after an army tank, Cartier's Tank symbolized speed and achievement, and an unstoppable force. Today, these watches are easily recognized across the room as a Cartier.
Today's offering showcases this Certified Pre-Owned mens classic Tank. It features a traditional solid 18K gold tank case, silver Roman dial with black steel hands, sapphire topped crown, and Cartier mechanical movement.
Before cost-cutting measures brought about the widespread use of cheaper quartz movements for certain wristwatches, Cartier utilized Swiss-crafted mechanical movements. Using centuries old watchmaking practices, craftsmen poured individual attention into each wristwatch. Because of this extra care and craftsmanship, Cartier wristwatches with mechanical movements are often considered more desirable than their quartz counterparts.
It is fully Cartier and presents in beautiful condition. The case presents just short of mint. Unlike most examples of these its stamping is still strong and clear. Its dial is clean and has been professionally restored.
One of our watchmakers has disassembled the watch down to its last screw and cleaned and oiled it. We have also installed a new, correct for a Cartier Tank, mineral glass crystal.
For the finishing touch we have installed a brand new Teju lizard strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate attesting to its performance.
