Today's offering showcases this beautiful vintage ladies Cartier Tank watch specially made for the French market. It has an iconic tank case, classic original cream Roman dial, sapphire topped crown, and mechanical Cartier movement. Unlike most Tanks it does not have "epee" shaped blued steel hands; it has original blued steel batons.

Before cost-cutting measures brought about the widespread use of cheaper quartz movements for many wristwatches, Cartier contracted with watch manufacturers to produce mechanical movements designed to last a lifetime. Using traditional watchmaking practices, these gifted craftsmen gave individual attention to each wristwatch. As a result, Cartier wristwatches with mechanical movements are often more sought after by collectors than their quartz counterparts.

While we generally love all vintage Cartier Tanks, we really like these that more character than your average vintage Tank from the late 70's and on that have the look of a modern Tank.

This has the true original vintage Tank style with a slightly thinner case. While made in vintage times after the 1930's, it still holds a look that is very similar to the early Tanks.

It is 100% Cartier down to the gold screws that are lost at times on other Tanks, including the new-old-stock Cartier strap and buckle that we installed.

Its thin case is in honest condition with two with both of its very strong French hallmarks strongly intact. It shows little signs of previous polishing and has fairly light wear and scratches. A professional polishing could remove much of the wear if desired.

Its untouched original dial is also in honest condition with light toning and natural aging. Like most Tanks like this one the lacquer has surface crazing throughout. We have left it original, because of the watch's desirability and vintage Tank look. If you would like it restored, please inquire.

One of our Master Watchmakers who has done authorized servicing work for Cartier's Service Center and who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealer and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center to be an authorized Rolex watchmaker, has freshly serviced the watch which consisted of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, installing a new mainspring, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $895 value).

It is running strong and true, keeping very accurate time.

Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
